Going behind the scenes of Blue Sky Studios animation
To celebrate the release of The Peanuts Movie, 20th Century Fox invited visual artists from around the world to submit work influenced by the iconic Peanuts gang. Inspired by Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock, Linus, Lucy and all the other characters, visual artists from New York to China submitted more than 400 stunning pieces. Charlie Brown and his friends were featured in every imaginable style and medium. They appeared as pirates, astronauts and sailors—and even riding on top of whales!
Conceived by GMC+A and produced and distributed through Fox with content collaboration with Blue Sky Productions and the Schultz Family Estate. The exhibition, both educational and fun, promoted the film and the estate prior to the release of the recent motion picture. To support an exhibition celebrating of the work and life of the great cartoonist who influenced all of our lives was an honor in itself, yet telling the story of the film studio that brought us such films as Ice Age was equally as inspiring. These two passionate innovators in their own fields have changed the way we see childhood, family, art, and storytelling in an often brutally honest manor that makes us cringe, laugh, cry, and sing together.
The experience we designed so that it could be printed and built by a graphics shop, in any country in any language, for fewer than forty thousand dollars. The flexibility of fabrication was only one challenge; the other was to permit an agility of size and content. Designed in three rings of content, The Peanuts Movie exhibition have venues with smaller footprints the ability to build one or two elements and those with greater open space the change to share it all. Venues around the globe included festivals, private events, shopping centers, and cinemas.
